Just be kind, professional, and show evidence of being a human capable of empathy occasionally. That’s all we ask.

And this is why I prefer wfh. I shut the laptop.
Those faux-friendships will lead to you getting hired for big jobs later in your career. Curmudgeons don’t last too long.
This last comment gives me hope. Sounds exactly like me.

Some co-workers take it too far. And the office becomes a gossiping playground where you can’t concentrate or get any work done.
Some try to fuck you. Or get you into extremely compromising positions with drinking.
Some pull you into office politics. And fuck your career or get you involved in fucking someone else’s.
And others can help you be focused on the work, be encouraging, and kind, without drama ever entering the picture. People you know you can rely on. Decency. Sincerity. These are the people who will vouch for you your entire career. If you show similar character and ethics.
Know what to look out for. You don’t want to work at a company full of the former.

I’m glad some people try to have sex with you. How boring office life would have been over the years had there been zero sexual attraction and flirting and hookups and long-term relationships. Some of my closest friends met through working together in the biz and ultimately marrying. And almost everyone I know has at least a couple of fond memories of hooking up with coworkers.
OK folks, this is not hard.
You don’t have to get drunk and wasted with your coworkers. Just be really nice and cheerful. Make people happy to see you.
I’m extremely extroverted, but that doesn’t mean I’m always full of cheer.

I have seen too many pretty women in the office harassed by men trying to be “nice” and “friendly”.
These women are only physically there to earn a living. Not be your fucking eye candy or office affair. They wouldn’t ever be in the same room with you otherwise. Keep that in mind!
Introvert or extrovert: be cordial and supportive to your coworkers. I don’t think anyone is expecting you to be their best friend or drinking buddy. Those things happen organically.
But the reality in many workplaces is that being liked matters more than being good at your job. I had a supervisor tell me that years ago at another place of employment…five months before he fired me.
It’s on a different level at ad agencies. Go in house at the right place and people are nice and professional without playing the popularity game.
You seem like ray of sunshine. Can’t blame people for wanting a piece of that charm.

Welcome to life, people. Those who are more charismatic and confident and extroverted have an advantage in general across most walks of life, in and out of work.
In other news, the sky is blue.
Who's telling you that you need to be best friends with your coworkers? I just keep to myself and interact on an as-needed basis. Works like a charm.
I went into creative for the same reason many others did: I wanted to be judged by the quality of my work, not my BS. But, now that I’ve been in it for long enough, it’s clear that you have to play the game. Just like in most businesses, networking is essential. If you don’t establish human relationships, your career will dry up. Ask any film director, musician, fashion designer, actor… You have to work your network. There’s just no other way.
