There is something that I discovered being a LPN for 36 years. The Christmas holidays don’t necessarily have to be celebrated on December 24-25. After the holidays are over find yourself a few days in a row off and celebrate Christmas then. Go all out with the tree, presents, good food, gifts to each other and Christmas movies.
You can't turn work into a holiday. All you can do is try to be pleasant to patients and coworkers and do what you can to provide some holiday spirit. But trying to make your work seem like a "real holiday" seems like an impossible challenge.

You make it fun !!! Dress up be cheery if you can ! Bring snacks order lunch for yourself make it fun !!
We do a low-effort unit thing like a snack swap or one person brings coffee, another brings donuts, etc. Nothing formal. Just enough to give us something to look forward to mid shift.
Just try to think of it this way—you’re doing it for your patients, and you helped out a coworker too. Plus, you’re getting paid double. It’s not easy working both holidays, especially if you have family, unless they really understand.
Hopefully next Christmas your schedule will be much better. Maybe you can even negotiate so you get to choose your day off next holiday.
