Industry vs role

Leaving BIG4 Audit and have 2 offers on the table. I want to end up in strategic finance in Tech industry but both roles aren't exactly perfect fit.

1) FP&A at large reputable Tech company (will be typical M/E variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting)

2) Corporate Dev role at industrial company looking for some industrial specific global tech companies to acquire (sourcing, modelling, valuation, negotiation - team is small but director is very hands on)

Anyone have insight on Business Transformation, Digital Strategy Practice in FSO?

I got the impression this was a small but fast growing team on the west coast, and the work sounds like a combination of product, agile delivery, and roadmap dev. But, as an outsider to the firm, I’d be curious for EY-ers’ thoughts/perceptions on the practice. Is it generally well regarded? How is the practice leadership & culture? Is it truly a hot/growing market like my interviewers have portrayed it as?

If you make it to senior manager at big four can you leave and become partner or director at mid size firm? Is this hard to do? I know there is a lot of politics at big four and have no interest staying in a senior manager role for 6-8 years and risk a chance of still not becoming partner. Also I got a long way to go before senior manager fyi.

Expecting an offer this week or early next week, but want to know when you start negotiating the salary? When you receive the call from the company or wait until receiving the formal offer letter? And how should the negotiation start? Through phone calls or emails? Didn’t use recruiter for this position, so I don’t know what is the process here.
