People that have small children - how do you deal with your child’s stress and separation anxiety when you go to work? My 4-year old goes berserk almost every day at some point relating to me having to work. The worst part is that I’ve been working from home bc of Covid and I’m literally just walking upstairs after giving hugs and kisses and saying see you soon 800 times. My spouse is a stay at home parent, but that doesn’t seem to matter to my son. A piece of me dies everyday because of this.

Curious what % of partners/MDs have spouses who also work. And regardless of non/working spouse, what do you do to feel a work/family balance?

How common are prenups in UK among middle-class? I'm thinking of asking my SO for one but I worry it would be viewed by anyone else as a one foot-out-the-door kinda situation. I'm just trying to be safe with little I have, seeing my friends' marriages.

I got an email last night from a 7th-grade parent because her son said I mentioned the words "male privilege" in class, and she is very concerned about how that is related to ELA (she said "reading"), and she is concerned about this being taught in public schools. To be clear, I didn't do a lesson on this subject but we did discuss rights versus privileges. I've had multiple parents contact the school/get upset with me because of things like his. It's exhausting... Thoughts?

I’m currently a third year in my small firm’s life sciences team. I’m not really stimulated by the work and although they say they have a lot of work, they’re not good at managing workload. I haven’t had much work on my plate even after asking many times for more than six months. I’m ready to move to a larger law firm. However, I am concerned how I’ll manage the workload as a mom to a toddler. The good thing about my firm is that they’re flexible with hours. Anyone have experience balancing?

Have a 2 year project for Romania which will be extended, what are the Pro's and Con's to move there?
Also need to decide if i need to take my wife and 5 year old kid there...

Really trying not to spiral, and my practice group leader has been openly hostile to and dismissive of me lately. I haven’t mentioned my depression/anxiety to him because we’re not exactly getting along swimmingly, but I don’t know who else to talk to about my MH. Fighting with my wife hasn’t helped either. Hi folks, my base location as per EY GDS offer letter is Noida but I want it to be Gurgaon as my hometown is in Jaipur and Gurgaon is more convenient for me.. I sent email to my senior manager and got response that you can use flexibility and work in any Gds office in India. However, I feel that in case my base location is not being changed, I should shift to Noida rather than Gurgaon as there might be any formalities or facilities which we need to avail in our base location only.. Any thoughts?

Hey! I'm just about to start doing some freelance work for a NYC based boutique design studio, and I need to give a hiring manager my hourly rate to give his customers. I am new to UI/UX design. I have experience in graphic design, but I just completed a certificate in UI/UX design so other than school projects I don't have an extensive amount of experience. What would you suggest I should charge? I am more interested in gaining experience than needing the money, but want to be payed reasonably.

Went from a big firm to work for a smaller firm. The people in the smaller firm are protective of their work and are good by their work too. I no longer feel chaos or stress. I am treated with respect and my schedule is more normal. I am even working more billable hours than before, but it feels like a seamless experience. I don’t work then past 5pm or anything out of the ordinary for this time of the year. I am so grateful!
