Salam. 23M here - all my life I’ve had my back on our faith - never really prayed but had imaan (I guess). After bouts of depression from girl problems (🙄), issues within immediate family, being disappointed expectations I had for myself, etc. I’ve been working on bettering my situation over the years. I’m (early30s) about 8 months into a relationship with a 40m. Things are wonderful in every aspect, but he is absolutely atrocious with his finances. I felt it becoming an issue about two months ago. Comforting others:
When someone tells me bad news regarding their health, I say everything I am supposed to say (I’m sorry to hear that, I’m here for you, etc) EXCEPT “everything is going to be ok”. Because I can’t guarantee that and I really don’t know if everything is going to be ok. I was taken aback recently when a friend told me I am calloused and cold-hearted for not being able to say those words. Is she right? Should I start saying this for the purposes of providing comfort only??

My live-in bf of 6 years and I just broke up. Our lease is ending in 2 months, but I’m considering moving back home to Chicago. Would that be a bad move considering my office is in NYC & quarantine might end sometime this year?

I went through my gf’s phone and found out she had a crush on my best friend when we first started dating (over a year ago). I suspected this at first but it hurts to have it confirmed and see her telling her friends about him. I’m not sure how I should feel since I went out of line to look through her phone.

Did a first interview with hr rep, went very well. she set up the hiring manager meeting for a few days later. Met with the manager. Another great conversation, went over time and was told I’d hear back about panel set up. Following day I get a request from hr rep to “continue the conversation” with manager. This is set up Tuesday.
Why do you think the manager wants to meet again? Good? Bad? I felt great about the interview when we ended.

Four years out of rehab today. Mostly sober since I “graduated”. Sometimes I want to act out and be caught, so I can be punished…because I don’t believe I was punished enough or suffered enough (divorce, losing a house, suicidal thoughts aren’t punishment enough apparently). In a meeting tonight a couple shares brought me right back to when I hit rock bottom, to the pain that I inflicted on others and myself. I need to remind myself every day that I am worthy of love and recovery.
