Is it common to share your current salary during the interview process? In NYC at least is prohibited for recruiters to ask your current salary.
against the law in CA too
He’s being upfront- probably knows that’s a deal breaker for most, but wants to keep the process going on the off-chance you’re OK with a pay cut and are looking for something different. I’ve taken a pay cut once for a company I really liked/admired, and we talked openly about it during the interview process. It was a startup and they knew they weren’t going to be able to match my current salary, but I was expecting that and knew going into it. However, if I was going to another consulting firm that’s equivalent to mine, I wouldn’t take a cut. It’s definitely a personal decision at this point.
Would they be willing to provide signing bonus to compensate for lower salary?
