I don't think so at all, you have to do what's right for you and the path you are currently on. School will always be there waiting for you when you're ready
There is no timeline and age limit to do what you want to do.
30 is definitely not too old, some people get them even later in their life. Although undertaking that while maintaining a job can be a big source of stress, so it's worth considering whether or not that's something that you want to put on your plate while you're still figuring out other things in life. On the flip side, having a clear goal and working towards it every day might prove beneficial towards helping you regain your stability and self-esteem. The feeling of accomplishing and progressing can be very healing. Also, you don't necessarily have to commit to finishing it. Maybe do a few credits part-time and see how you feel by easing your way into it.
A lot of top mba programs want work experience as that enriches the value you add to the program, so 30 is definitely not too old.
There is no such thing as too old for education either. It just depends on what you want to use the mba for, some use it to pivot careers and open doors for new competitive opportunities (ie transfer from consulting to investment banking), so being on the younger side helps from an energy perspective to pull through long hours but even then, when you want something, you can get it.
I just graduated last year at 34 and absolutely loved my experience! Average age at my school was 29.5 so 30 is right in the sweet spot. I’ll also add, while drinking can be very engrained in the culture, there were many people who chose to abstain for religion, sobriety, etc and it wasn’t a big deal at all. Best of luck!
The average age in my MBA class was 30.
Do it! It will open many different doors for you. Godspeed.

There’s no right or wrong answer with this one, only suggestions, lessons learned, and best practices.
Having a sponsor and going through all 12 steps would be a helpful foundation upon which to begin an MBA. I know I do best with stressful challenges when I’m in fit spiritual condition. And whatever I do, I know my recovery needs to come first, and that makes everything else first class.
I’m way older than that and I’m finishing my MBA in May. Never too late.
I'm incredibly proud of you, OP 🤩😍😇
30 is not old for a MBA program. While you will skew past the median age, there are plenty of people who are older in the program. Lots of ex-military and people with a non-business background (academics, government, research, etc.) will also be there.
Just be prepared that most jobs coming out of the program may be a jump down responsibility wise. However pay will be good and rapid advancement will be expected.
At my firm, MBAs come in as a consultant (two levels above entry level) and are expected to promote to Director within 2 years.
You won't look expensive. Salary is typically fixed for MBA-entry level jobs
The two things you will face is (1) Why are you pivoting from law (2) Why do you think you will be a good fit at (insert company)
I wouldn't sweat either but really make sure your resume highlights any work that would tie to the job you are applying to and network network network so that at the end of the day your company of choice doesn't care tooo much about your resume since so many people would be pushing for you
