Rising Star
I am in the office two days a week and f’ing hate it. Hate everything about. The 1.5 hours of lost time getting ready for work/commuting (20 min walk.) Colleagues rotting nasty lunches in t e refrigerator. Our microwave caked in nastiness from peoples lean cuisines they heat up uncovered. The temperature is never how I want it. Even with door closed, the admin sitting outside me is the loudest typist ever - takes out her aggressions out on the keyboard. The bathroom always smells during rush hour 8-10am - hate sitting down on a warm toilet seat, hate hearing other people explosively poop and grunt. Don’t like making small talk anymore - not into it. Never really cared for most of my coworkers and now it’s unbearable. My work is self directed and has no review. There is zero reason for me to be here other than having a warm body in our 30 story office tower to justify keeping it.

^ I get it! I feel like I’m the only guy at my office who doesn’t eat chipotle for every meal and have explosive diarrhea all day.
Yes. Every single day that I get stuck in traffic during my hour commute, I think to myself how I could be home billing the time. I also think about how I’m not paid enough to do this.
In office everyday but don’t hate it and also don’t love it. Would prefer the firm dump the lease and put the saved money into our salaries. Wishful thinking.
Your boss sucks
Oh wow. My boss doesn’t let us WFH (only some Fridays) but at least he doesn’t wfh either. Damn maybe he isn’t the worst boss ever 😍
Update the two partners just rolled in at 1 when I’ve been here since 8:15 …
This happens to me constantly! So frustrating.
Yes, I can’t stand it. And the boss almost never comes in.
Nope. I’m doing hybrid right now (office like once every 1-3 weeks). If I leave this job, I’m going fully remote. Willing to switch careers if that’s what’s gonna take.
Just curious.. have you dusted off your resume and started a search. Most firms are offering hybrid with flex but face time has some benefits depending on the reasons. But arbitrarily requiring in office daily seems ridiculous.
Personally I am fine with being in the office because I enjoy leaving the house and working in a place where I’m more productive and useful. I understand though that this preference isn’t for everyone, and many others have good reasons for wanting to stay home: better computer setup, childcare issues, and the like. But, I will say it’s better to be in the office for the most part because it encourages social interaction, collaboration, and face-to-face problem solving. I think that’s useful and shouldn’t be tossed out lightly. Flex schedules should be the way to go for the future.
