I'm in AWS, My current sal is , 23L base 13L JB 100 RSU (comprising 29L ) should I get 48L from ADP? I already have an offer of 32L fixed+10L variable + 6.4L JB from Accenture as L7 Mgr/Sol Arch. Among Accenture & ADP what would be better? (I personally feel as Accenture is purely a service based organisation, a higher salary would be a little risky, not sure thou) ADP Accenture

^ You are not going to get fired for asking for a raise
You don’t negotiate, they tell you what your salary increase is and that’s it
Agree with the above, it’s a very low probability move especially as a junior person. You should be focusing on new salary $s not % increases. Usually higher percentages are more indicative that a person was on the low end of the band last year.
Senior Consultant 1: what do you mean “they fixed the issue”? Did the negotiating work or did they fix the issue by leaving the firm?
I’m not sure if I could have had that “expectations” discussion in March as they were probably still determining whether to promote me at all. I don’t know if I would’ve been comfortable giving a number when I didn’t even know if the promotion was going to happen.
To be honest at that level any “negotiation” is probably going to hurt more than help and it is for such small peanuts after taxes.
EY1 is so right about the deflection and defusing comment - they always have an answer for everything, and you walk out of their office like - wait, what just happened, did I even ask the question I meant to ask or get an answer??? Sometimes you feel worse then before you went in... Good luck, be prepared with notes and examples to support, and stay focused.
You can say you expected a higher increase because you have been doing x,y,z. I know others who weren't happy and they fixed the issue. What was the percentage raise?
At the big 4 once salary increases are announced you are pretty much locked in, if you want something more you need to start talking in February to March time frame....
I've had this conversation before, with a moderate amount of success, but it was followed by a competing offer. As SM1 stated, the "expectations" discussion needs to start long before the notification.
Make sure you have a job lined up in case they don’t like how you approached this lol good luck but I discourage it
There's a talk track that the partners have to deflect and defuse.
If you know that the raise does not reflect the work / contribution you’ve done over the year, it doesn’t hurt to speak up about it (but in a constructive matter). It won’t get you fired. That’s what I’m planning to do as well when I have the talk with partner. Staff 2 to senior. One of the SM at work also said that we are allowed to negotiate.
EY2 your allowed to, but not very effective and if you do, don’t plan on doing it every year.
I haven’t been told what my increase will be. I’m expecting to have that meeting next week. Assuming I don’t like the number/percentage and I wanted to say something, do I say something at the time of the meeting or should I take some time to reflect on it and come back within a few days and talk about it?
Ounce you leave that meeting everything is set in stone. So come prepared.
@SM1 how is any negotiation bad for you? Just want to know the viewpoints of upper management honestly.
He’s saying an extra 30 bucks a paycheck after taxes isn’t worth the annoyance to everyone involved
