And vacation days and severance and blah blah blah
Usually when I price my rate for freelancing I bump it 20-30% of my full time rate
Did you try to negotiate ?/ did it seem possible to negotiate? I am about to be in this similar position and cannot really take the pay cut right now
Yes. Full time pay will always be less than freelance for the same roll.
Again, you need factor in the medical benefits.
Was it calculated hourly to salary or a base rate?
So the pay decrease is due to being salaried and from benefits ? Was just curious if this was normal as its my first time dealing with a contracting position
Huh? It is what the market will pay.
Hourly to salary
It is normal, you also have to figure if they are paying a conversion fee, that is part of your 1 years cost.
Also, subtract the feee from recruiters which is often 10-20% of annual salary
What company are you at?
Benefits can come out to a thousand bucks or more every month. Factor in healthcare (medical, dental, vision), paid time off, any company matching in place (retirement funds, tuition, what have you) - it's a LOT. Less cash but less risk and bills you have to shoulder by yourself, is the theory.
I still don't understand how people don't understand this simple and obvious thing... All of the above!
Yes! Negotiate!
I negotiated up in my last conversion. 🤑
