It's worth a try for sure. But sometimes people get to these roles quicker than necessary and it might be a struggle to find your area of expertise as a manager. Make sure you are interviewing for good roles.
That’s a good point I think I know what I want to do and confident i can learn everything I need to succeed
I don't know what people are going on about. It is absolutely possible. You can go from analyst to CEO if you personally have the skillet. It has nothing to do with your current title or responsibilities
That’s the mindset that will take you far
Someone come get their analyst please
Ya 3 year on the Bench. Jk tho I’m up for consultant it’s my second year
Lol
On a serious note I’ve seen so many managers at my firm who are just incompetent and don’t have any grit. How can they be leaders and they look like they would freeze up in a fight. Maybe it’s because iv been an athlete my whole life but some of these ppl look like they have never been thru any hardship and are just given these jobs bc mom and dad paid thru college/apartment/cars. It’s easy to lead some of these sheep to be honest
Have been interviewing for manager roles and I think I can do that job. Better to give a shot and step up to the occasion then not even try.
Not with that grammar
Only possible if you are from Deloitte
Lol
Seems hard for actual managerial roles that need to own a meaningful P&L or manage people, but if "manager" is just a title that corresponds to a certain pay grade, then it is doable.
Might be the case but the salary and work was attractive compared to the work in consulting
Yes. Exited to SM in industry. Titles don’t work the same at every company. At a lot of companies Managers are just Independent Contributor roles. Comp likely not comparable to M in consulting though.
Yea should be no problem at ~3yoe. Current environment may impact it though.
Ive seen a senior analyst (who to be fair was a consultant for literally a day) become a senior manager at Kraft
This is at Accenture btw
Yes, I have seen multiple people from ZS do it, but with 2-3 YOE just hadn’t received a promo at ZS yet
Yea I got 2 years under my belt
Yes, have 2 YOE and you could do fine. I have had opportunities at small to regional players. I wouldn't hold my breath for a F200 role
Yea let’s see how it goes. Worth a shot
Depends on the role and responsibility, in addition to size of the company. A title doesn’t mean much across firms.
Think about what your responsibilities have been and what a manager is expected to do in industry.
Probably not going to work out.
I’m a doer so fuck I’ll go for it. Nothing bad can come out of it besides learning
Lol
Lots of companies have different titles. A lot in industry have title inflation to attract applicants. I’ve seen companies with Senior Managers that are equivalent to our Consultants. You have to look at the individual companies
I moved from Associate (2 years) to Manager. It’s possible, but you need a strong skillset.
My first manager at a financial firm out of college didn’t do anything outside of delegate work and attend random meetings. Rlly what gave him the edge was being older and experienced overall
Any thing possible if you are lucky
Yes, I know a few people who have done it
