Typically I would consider that move ill-advised for the typical big 4 associate/senior.
I mean...if you want a chill job, probably 40 hours, and you're fine with the pay (and not trying to climb the corporate ladder) I think it's fine. Maybe a good mom job with some wfh flexibility.
This might not be true for all funds. Some might have actual growth opportunities or have long hours, idk.
I would say if you can get more of a financial analyst role at a fund that would be more desirable and have a more common upward trajectory (opportunity).
This is not sweeping--it can be good for now and then you can move on to something else...so...yeah if it's the job you can get, and it pays enough, it's not the worst move. I know a guy who went big 4 - fund senior accountant - fund controller & he's super happy. (I think he since switched to fund controller at another fund for a raise, we've lost touch)
Why is going to fund accounting ill advised?
