That's such an easy job I'd take it and find your fun elsewhere when you have all the money to spend. Move up the ladder in-house and retire. And you'd be at one of the cooler in-house brands. Play the long game, maybe you'll end up being a client overseeing agency work in future 😂😆😉 Navigate carefully and play the game well so you don't get stuck in this narrow scope.
The Director of that team is amazing! I love working at Netflix (haven’t updated my company) and it’s never boring or easy. It’s challenging, fun and easily the best company I’ve ever worked for. I left advertising 2 years ago and never looked back
Would love to learn more about your transition!
take the money and be closer to retirement
Do it. Use your spare brainpower to plan a move internally. The Netflix name on your resume will also get you far if you want to move to something else within tech.
Definitely worth exploring. Tell them your concerns. Maybe they can offer some variety to your responsibilities. The only person who can answer this for you is yourself. So just ask!
That sounds awesome. But like it’d get boring after 6 months haha
Rising Star
agreed. sounds like a blast for a short while.
If you don’t want it, I’ll take it!

A synopsis writer makes more than a creative with 10 years of experience? Can you say what the pay is here?
Ask about career growth. They can't expect someone with 10 years experience to be happy writing synopsis forever
I mean — will you be working on the shows that got green light? If yes, that would be definitely looks like a fun job. Imagine producing work that actually entertains people.
ACD3 that sounds relaxing as hell. I’d take it in a heartbeat.

Sounds like a dream to me, but I have no desire for a job to be my passion. I just want to work in a relatively calm environment and be able to do fun things in my free time.
I used to write synopses for a syndicated television show to send to affiliates and would give anything to go back and do it forever. Do it and never look back.
It was only part of my actual job, so I accomplished it in different ways. If I happened to be working on the production of an episode, I wrote from the experience. If it was a remote shoot or I didn’t see the taping, I’d read the scripts or have the editors send me a cut. Based on what I know from former colleagues who went to Netflix, this job would probably involve reviewing screeners and maybe the occasional script. I liked this kind of work because it’s totally solo and you can do it however you want. I’m a very curious person, so I enjoy being forced to dig into something that I might not have even glanced at. Plus it can be an interesting challenge. Say it’s a documentary on sedimentary rocks or something super dry, but the host or editing are incredible and you think it deserves a second look- a good writer will want to find a way to make that line grab people’s attention. You can put in as little or as much effort as you want, and I enjoy work that I can flex to fit my schedule/mood/attention span.
Take it! More money and one of the most influential brands/companies of all time. Plus you’re in the inner sanctum if you’re looking to pitch a show and need to know how to get to the right people.
But yeah might get boring after the 11th season of Love Is Blind.
Paid to watch tv? Sign me up.
Ask for a path of promotion. Figure a way on how to retire or leap frog from there whether internally or get into a place where you are doing Netflix originals or their internal creative dept.
It doesn’t hurt to show how you got promoted within a large organization.
Once you’re in (you clearly have the experience), it’s easy to get back in.
Try it!
Do this please. Also please do this. I don’t know what I have to do to be in charge of compiling movies into 3 sentences but I will do it if you don’t.
Take it and run… can always go back, not nearly as easy to secure a role at top-tier company as it is to go back to ad world.
Do it.
Why not give it a shot? It might reignite what you did love about advertising when you aren’t immersed in it, or you may discover that this is the job you really wanted. Personally, being able to write all day everyday without scopes, clients minutiae, and the constant office politicking sounds nice. At least for a bit.
A friend of mine from college is a Creative Director at Netflix and they love it. Started off as a Senior Art Director and moved up.
I think it could be a narrow scope. But it sounds fun and Netflix is a great company to have on your resume. So I say why not?
