That's such an easy job I'd take it and find your fun elsewhere when you have all the money to spend. Move up the ladder in-house and retire. And you'd be at one of the cooler in-house brands. Play the long game, maybe you'll end up being a client overseeing agency work in future 😂😆😉 Navigate carefully and play the game well so you don't get stuck in this narrow scope.
The Director of that team is amazing! I love working at Netflix (haven’t updated my company) and it’s never boring or easy. It’s challenging, fun and easily the best company I’ve ever worked for. I left advertising 2 years ago and never looked back
Would love to learn more about your transition!
Take the job and freelance on more fulfilling work.
I’d echo what others have said… it sounds fun for a while but would probs get boring quite quickly. That said being at Netflix might open new interesting doors to you? And the chance to meet new people in a much cooler industry. If you can afford to take the risk I’d say go for it. Advertising ain’t going anywhere so will always be here if you decide to come back.
Take and abs make it exciting. No one else to blame if you get bored - I’m sure it would be fun! I read those programming descriptions all the time and I’m like…. Zzzzzzzz
Do it! The perks at Netflix are amazing. They can not be beat. Cool experience that will look good on your resume. Want to hangout?
If u don’t take the job, I want it!!
How the hell did you swing that? Do you write on the side?
Take it!!! Just because you start in that role doesn’t mean you’ll be stuck there forever! I’m sure you’ll be able to navigate to other interesting projects fairly easily
Take it, try it, worst case you enjoy it, best case it looks great on your resume.
Congrats on the offer. Can you do both??
Sharing this amazing article about a fellow Netflixer who has multiple passions outside of her role @ Netflix. Hopefully it will inspire you @ OP! https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/from-ballet-wall-street-netflix-land%C3%A9-asiru
Go for it - I’ve heard it’s a fun place to work
and it will only enhance your experience
My dream job 😄
Damn how much they pay synopsis writers? Must be more to the job. Always thought that’d be more of a mid level thing.
Can always moonlight on the side with other projects, will only make you a better resource for Netflix long-term?
Do it. If nothing else will give you another perspective.
Take it. Even if you get bored and leave after a year, it’s still a great company to have on your resume.
Try it. If you don’t like it you can go back to advertising again.
Do you have a creative outlet besides advertising? If so, perhaps the higher paying but less creatively fulfilling job makes sense.
Compared to agency life it's probably going to seem one note. That said, if the hours and workload are a bit lighter you can finally get to all those things we always say we're going to do but don't because the agency grind doesn't let up.
What's the career path here? I get that may not matter to everyone, but where do you go if you're there for eight years and get laid off? What happens when due to raises you make too much money relative to the position? That's something I'd want to at least be eyes open about.
