Leadership wants honest feedback, as long as it aligns with their world view and is actionable in line with what they want…
That’s hilarious. They’ll fire you on the spot for being “honest”. They don’t care
Honestly, it feels like honesty gets punished, and for organizations to be psychologically safe, the leaders need to be ready to hear and see everything the good, the bad, and the ugly and be open to fixing things. I think HR has a huge part in shaping this culture, asking leaders to get coaching or training to understand that a safe culture starts with them being open to feedback and figuring out what's going on and how to fix it, without firing people who speak up.
Yes it's interesting; i would suggest they only want positive feedback. Crazy thing is, it's the negative feedback that is probably the most valuable. But it's human nature to get defensive

Before they ask for feedback the question to them should always be, what are you going to do with this feedback, good and bad?

I think organisations want honest feedback right up until it challenges something they strongly believe. That is usually the real test.
Beware of providing honest feedback. They can find out who you are.
