Thoughts on investing in VNQ if you plan to buy real estate in the future?

I bought a house in the suburbs of Chicago at the top of the market. I ended up moving out of state in 2017 and short-selling. I am now interviewing for a VP Accounting role with the mortgage company that got shafted by the short sale. If I get the job offer, can they/will they see this on my credit report? Can they pull the offer due to this? Should I tell them before we advance further?

I made a mistake starting SIP in a ULIP. Used to invest 7500 per month starting from November 2018. I have discontinued my premium payments since last year. That is when my fund was moved to an interim surrender state and now it earns 4% per annum interest.

After 5 years of lock-in that is November 2023, can i withdraw the entire amount at a time? (Of course after paying surrender charges)

Currently on short term disability in CA and trying to figure out what the tax situation is. It looks like they don’t take out taxes, so should I set that aside? I can’t find any info on whether it’s tax-free income but I definitely don’t want to assume incorrectly

Recently started with a new company. What do I do with my HSA account from my previous employer? The brokerage used for the HsA is a prohibited entity at the new company, and my personal brokerage doesn’t support HSA accounts.

Currently 23, first year post-grad. I’m currently putting about 20% into Roth 401k, nothing into Roth IRA. Originally had traditional 401k but just switched current / future contributions to Roth 401k. Company 401k match only 6%.

I should start a 529 account for my child but I am originally from France which also makes her a French citizen and she could easily go to college in France for not much money. It’s pretty much free there, I have 0 Student loan debt. With that in mind, a 529 would not be super helpful if we go that route. Should I consider other options? Do you have suggestions?
