I’ve been out of a job since May. A potential company wants me to set up an interview which I did, however the salary according to Glassdoor is well below what I was making. Do I go for it even tho I know I’ll have to keep looking for another job?

You should follow through and see how things develop. Ask about the salary and see if you could negotiate something better if you get an offer. In this job market it's hard to find something, so you may want to take the job even if it means you'll keep looking.

Account Executive. The sooner, the better. So that there are no surprises down the road.

like

Yes you should take it. You never know how much more you'll be able to negotiate over their initial offer if they make you one. And the job market is awful. I would take whatever I could get if I was you. If the offer ends up being as low as advertised, you just keep looking until something better comes along.

Get the job and look for another one

Glassdoor is usually inaccurate. Check the H1B database to see if the role is in there.

My company went toxic in the last couple months. Chose me and started interviewing. Had a very successful interview with Amazon but recruiter is working hard trying to place me and said there’s no knowing how long to find a team. Meanwhile I just received a Director offer for a company with a 29% pay bump July 1. If Amazon or any other FAANG/large co gets back to me, is there an acceptable way to not burn bridges with new job and accept or delay start date with FAANG? Or fuck it just hop?

Hi! I’ve been in hospitality & management for over 10 years and desperate for a career pivot. As anyone in restaurants knows, the work is ~80 hours a week and often making less on salary than your own tipped-wage employees. I have experience with training, team building, HR, financial analytics, client needs, communications and so much more. Does anyone have recommendations on a new career path or job listings to investigate??

Curious what the base and commission structure is for inside sales and associate director of sales in biotech (also anyone else who wants to share pls put industry). Paid hourly or salary? At the biotech company I work at avg inside sales is $62,632 with a $3500 per quarter cap. Commission structure is % based on sales quota reached vs capped (not a direct % of sales). I’m underpaid at $53000 with $3500 cap per quarter.

I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

I need help figuring out if I’m being underpaid. I’m working in real estate private equity and I focus on fund models and property valuations. I’m currently at base $80k and 20% bonus. On top of that I have 5 years experience and a masters in finance. I’m good at my job and receive positive reviews from everyone. I feel like I should be compensated better but the company says that’s what they think I’m worth. Any help or insights would be great!

I’m interviewing for a marketing manager role at a company based in SF. I’m genuinely excited about the role and the company but we’ve yet to discuss salary. I expect to be asked at some point, but my research has given me a VERY broad range. So I’m here to do a bit more research. I’ve got 5 very relevant years of experience and will have an associate manager directly reporting to me. Are there any marketers out there who can share their salaries in similar regions and experience levels?

This is the first time I've considered work outside of higher education. I said my salary expectations are minimum $90k and that didn't seem to be an issue. Am I asking too little, too much? How can I know I'm getting the best salary and not just settling at the low end of the range?

Do you take the current economy into consideration when receiving job offers? For example you receive a good offer from a company like Meta/TikTok but are hesitant because they could be laying off soon or rescind an offer versus a lower offer at a more traditional and stable company that tends to be less reactionary with regards to layoffs? Not my current scenario but just curious. I would like to make a move from current employer but this economy has me spooked.
