Strategy& fish - i’m currently recruiting for org strategy. Ive talked to associates (in the healthcare practice) and theyve mentioned that it doesnt matter whether youre in corp strategy, org strategy, etc and that you’re pretty much pooled by industry when it comes to staffing.
Can someone confirm this? Also, what do you expect the restructuring to look like?

Assuming you’ve covered all the prep material, main downfall I have seen is people use the framework as the end and not the means (so called “canned framework”). The key here is to be genuinely curious - think you’re in a pub, your mate asks you this question and you actually want to get to the bottom off it (and then use the frameworks to guide you through and help stay organised).
Make sure you take your time to get your framework right! And You don’t need luck cuz YOU WILL KILL IT!!

also much better to be right than fast, in general but especially for the math! And organize your notes / framework in a v organized way that shows your clear thinking even after you’ve left the room- we keep the paper, it can serve as a useful reference later to break ties or help to recall a specific candidate better

@C1 What's a framework? 😂 Kidding! Thanks!

First Interview: I totally freaked out and couldn't fucking multiply or read charts. Everything was tunnel vision for me. I've NEVER frozen up like that in an interview before. It was bad. Every time someone gave me the advice of "don't be nervous" I brushed it off because I never really have been nervous for an interview and I didn't anticipate being nervous for this one until I walked into the interview room. (I did 5 practice cases with current BCG consultants and nailed all 5 of them. To the point where they told me I didn't miss a thing.) But when I walked into the room on interview day, it was bad. Mid-way through, I could just see the look on his face thinking "hurry up and end this." It wasn't the case problem; the case was pretty straight forward. I just psyched myself out and couldn't do basic functions.
I think I mainly freaked out because I was anticipating a consultant to interview me, but since they were short on interviewers that, it was a principal that interviewed me instead. I didn't know this until he introduced himself. Totally freaked when he told me that in the very beginning.
Second interview: I did a lot better. She loved my framework. Got to the answer, and she was really impressed. But I knew that I did SO badly on the first one that there was no way this would pull me up enough to get me into the next round. She was also a consultant. So even if she loved me and wanted to advance me, the principal would've been like HELL NO.
Conclusion: Did not advance to the second round. Lesson learned. DONT FREAK OUT. Relax. I'm happy to talk more in detail through email or something. Hope this helps some people!
