A new project is still very exciting, but rank in the firm bothers me.. feel i should be a manager so there are political challenges. Def enjoy the work and value the role that consultants play in the grey
I’m approaching mid-30s. Happens quick. Most cross-firm talks are tough to jump to mgr level. Industry mostly senior manager though. Maybe pop out for a year or two.
Judging by OP’s responses, OP is definitely not a manager quality. I have no idea what is OP talking about and if you can’t ask a question and make your points concise and understandable, being manager is least of your concerns, you are in the wrong business OP
38 yo mgr here. If you’re not getting through SC in 2-3 years its only going to get harder and may want to consider industry if rank bothers you. Really need to be humble and swallow the age pill because 95% will be younger than you.
Depends... Are you still having fun doing what you are doing?
Oh well, politics will happen no matter what level you are at.... Continue demonstrating your readiness as manager... If the firm ignores it for long term change firms.
How old is old?
Age has nothing to do w mgr...my guess is the it appears you aren't 100 committed to the cause (100% committed means being online 24x7)
And @slalom, always committed to the cause normalizes in different ways, but yeah, i hear the advice. Much thanks
Im confused are you saying that jumping between firms as a mgr is hard? If you are doing everything right then ask your RP poibt blank what you need to get promoted. Ask your director the same
Yeah more venting @slalom. But i hear slalom has retreats, so that could tip the scales
@op. "Always committed to the cause normalizes in different ways"...no it doesnt.
If you want yo get promoted you need to normalize it in the exact way that the people making the decision to promote you want. Its their way or the highway
@op and what are you venting at me about. What are you trying to convey w the word retreat
How many years are you away from manager? With experienced hires at D at least we have people at various ages be at the levels
Be nice people
35 is old now? Crap.
