Are there airports that have gates more than 2.5 hours apart?

Would be most concerned about mitigating a delay out of SFO.
If a morning flight out of SFO and changing airlines 2.5 hours is ok, 1.5 is not since SFO flight will be 30 minutes late and full of slow movers.
Do you mean you have 2.5 hours to get from one terminal to the next at JFK? If so, yes completely doable. JFK is way easier to navigate than LGA
Yes that's a long time
Is 1.5 hours enough time? Would prefer a shorter layover
I would not suggest a 1.5 hour domestic to international connection at JFK, particularly if you’re switching carriers. I wouldn’t suggest it at many airports, but particularly not the delay-prone JFK. Depending on who your connection is from and to, if you need to check in again, recheck a bag, etc - basically if you need to visit the ticket counter in addition to the terminal change before reclearing security - it will be very tight. Even if you don’t, if your inbound is late it could break the connection.
Presumably you have an afternoon arrival into JFK for an overnight flight, which is both rush hour at JFK and also tends to be the time of day most prone to weather delays, especially in the summer.
