McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

1. They've to pay for your 'home' flight
2. You've 60 days to find a new job without any repercussions on your immigration status
3. Keep your head high; plenty of us have gone through the immigration nonsense to finally be resilient to the challenges
@OP - Similar thing happened to me at Deloitte last year. No notice and they just terminated me when I came back from vacation. Totally unexpected and I had not even finished year end review etc. Think business was just dipping in our group.
Anyways I was on a H1B, was looking earlier but ramped by networking very aggressively. Got 3 job offers. The companies usually apply consular visa for which you might get RFE as well. You will have to go out and comeback in (I did it in Mexico).
There is also no said rule about the 60 days. It is a myth cooked up on websites and forums. You can technically and legally stay till date of expiration of your visa, but lawyers usually don't recommend it. This is a very grey area. EY has to give you access to an attorney and a flight ticket back home. Speak to lawyer and strategize best steps. Have all your questions consolidated!
Don't worry too much and trust things will workout. Sometimes these guys are assholes in they way they deal with the employment of people on visas , but we just got to deal with it I guess.
Good luck and please ping if you have any questions!
"Too big picture and focused on details" sound like opposite things.
And individuals who "like" these posts, F U! You have no idea what is it like to be an immigrant in this nation and how the job situation impacts your stay here.
...without considering I now have to go back to India in 2 days because of immigration. Thanks EY!!! Way to build lasting relationships.
*not focused on details
I don't get it.. "too much big picture and focused on deatils". Isn't that contradictory?
👹👹👹👹 Smells trollish
I am so sorry
C1 I'm on L1..its tied to employer unfortunately
Every single crazy story from EY is PAS. What is going on?
Dude im sorry. What group n level? This is brutal
Why would they consider that? It's a job, you have to be good at it. That's the whole point of them hiring you
Op - what's the 2 day thing? You have 60 days to find a new employer after the termination date. Try to negotiate a later end date - even if that means being on an unpaid leave of absence.
I don't mind the firing part...now I have to sell all my stuff, car. It's the no notice I'm pissed about. Even a month would would be helped me out a lot
SA1: Chill the hell out. No one is shitting on OP.
OP: that blows. There has to be some way to not have to leave in only 2 days.
109 pct makes me think you worked too slowly or charged time when you were fixing what you messed up, especially if you were bad with details. You'll land on your feet - ey sucks anyway
SA1 - You are only an immigrant. Same if I went to your country. You aren't special and neither am I. We have no automatic rights in foreign countries.
EY seems to be the most fucked up company
109% as a manager is remarkable. Its cause of something else not related to performance
