Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Did you leave big 4? Moral of the story is these companies have been growing too fast and now need to cut costs just as fast.
A lot of people chased the big $s and IMO got used / are getting used.
Nooo small startup- I was director of ops
Sorry to hear that. Hang in there. You will find your ground again.
It’s fairly standard procedure for involuntary terminations, but usually wouldn’t be applied during a probation period if the initial contract is clear.
So yes, they are either buying something out or this is just the “way they do it” every time.
Thought this was Stripe until the bit about the CFO and teams - only cause they don’t use teams and they don’t have a true CFO 😂

Okay but are u getting paid? Make sure that check goes through
Turn down the offer of 1 month. Insinuate that they need to offer more.
Read the agreement carefully maybe it is an NDA about intellectual property. Maybe it means you won't sue for discrimination or something. Maybe it means you can't diss the company. Don't make assumptions before a careful read.
Ask for more and see. They might pull the offer, but this seems unlikely because pulling the offer doesn't benefit them. Tfact that they made the offer means they care at least a little about what you could say. You probably don't have much of a leg to stand on from a wrongful termination POV, but you could badmouth them to investors, and that's probably worse to them than anything you could claim about termination.
I think it’s pretty standard - but I would negotiate more.
