Hello fishes, Do you have suggestions on Diversity & Inclusion activities that can be done virtually with a group? I found few ideas in google but would love to hear about any experiences and suggestions.

Yes, check out Howspace. It is an AI-powered platform for consultants to engage large groups of people in dialog. Sort of a mix between Mentimeter, a survey tool, and Remesh. Great for sustaining communities such as ERGs virtually.

Respected People,

I wanted to understand why females are on this much higher altitude in India?
even gender ratio of india is now 1020/1000, which means india has more female than males.

Then why people are going crazy for finding a girl?

Why self respect do not matter for some people?

PS: I am a guy. *Not looking for any girl*,

Already got a decent girl as my life partner. (based on my personality not salary)

Curious if anyone has experienced or know someone has experienced a similar situation - and if so how you handled (or how you would handle it).

The situation: I applied for a promotion to our Design Leadership team. I was asked to apply and told I was a preferred candidate. At the same time, there is a promised effort to increase gender diversity on the leadership team. In my current role, I was blocked by the incumbent from communicating directly with internal stakeholders. cont in comments

I love my job and the people I work with, but there’s one thing that really bothers me: the lack of diversity. Sometimes when I walk into the office and see everyone else around me as the only POC, it feels kind of weird. I don’t think anyone here has ever said anything racist or sexist to me personally, but I don’t feel comfortable talking about these issues with anyone because they might take it personally and then things could get awkward between us.

Hey! I’m a self-contained teacher for grades K-2. This is my first year at the school I’m currently in, and apparently in the yearbook every year they have a class page solely for the handful of students in my classroom. They do this instead of putting my students in the yearbook page of the class they participate in for inclusion services. I feel like this is extremely wrong and violates some privacy laws. Do y’all have suggestions on how to bring this up with admin and the yearbook director?

Hey Gente, Im applying for jobs and I wanted to get others opinion on the race part of the application process. As an indigenous LatinX I worry that if I put indigenous it won’t tick the “diversity” box for the algorithm or recruiters. I work with (not in) the I&D dept at my company and our target recruiting groups don’t include or mention indigenous. Any recruiters here that have insight?

Hello! It seems this bowl is not very active but I'd like it to be. So here's my story: Born & raised in PR, moved to CA for undergrad & have been here since then. I graduated from law school in 2019, followed by a 2 yr bk clerkship. I did the evening program. I really enjoyed law school, in spite of the microaggressions, the late nights, & crazy competition. Love all things diversity in the law. Anyway, currently looking for a position in NYC/DC area. 🤗

Are there any stable part time jobs in Finance? I have 7/66.

I'll soon be given a formal offer at Automattic as a junior to mid product designer. Prior to that I was making 76K annually as their contractor based in the Philippines. I get worried that they'll give me less than that because I'm based in the PH (salary estimators onIine show much less)
Was adviced by a peer to ask for more and let them say no bec they don't do negotiations but try to match. I'm thinking of saying 85-90K and I'd be happy if it's less than that. Is that a fair amount? (Contd)

TRUE OR FALSE? In your workplace, raising concerns about unfair treatment, discrimination, or harassment tends to make things worse for the person raising a concern and put that person’s opportunities, role, reputation, and/or job at risk.

This is a safe, judgement-free,anonymous forum for seniors, leads, managers, partners, & principals to ask questions & get support around workplace situations which may have a DE&I component. This is also a place where leaders can learn more about DE&I without fear of asking “the wrong” question or saying something which will get them labeled as a “racist” “ignorant” or “insensitive” in the workplace. If you are providing answers/info, be informative & kind to everyone who posts questions here.

Venting a bit: Are you finding DEI groups at work overrun with allies. Is there also an increase in celebrating said allies? Is it just me?

Most of the groups I'm in (esp. event teams) are being taken over by allies wanting to do what they think should be done to 'celebrate' whatever topic the month is, usually speaking over marginalized coworkers and rarely consulting with them. It seems like the only time this doesn't happen is for gay (usually yt) men or BHM. I'm just feeling so...minimized.

Hello! I'm looking for DEI director or DEI program manager position that is remote. I'm currently a director of equity and multicultural outreach right now.

How did you all get into the DEI space professionally? I’m doing a lot of work internally at my firm and spent a lot of time in my masters program focusing on DEI and want to do DEI work full time. Looking for any guidance in making the transition from traditional consulting.

I do have the 1 year of experience they asked for in the job in question. Do NOT claim you are "colorblind" in the workplace. 1. DE&I knowledge is now a core leadership competency. Colorblind claims will earn you the reputation of being DEI-ignorant at best & racist at worst. 2. Colorblindness within the context of workplace diversity is an obvious lie. You do NOT want to be painted as an intellectually dishonest leader. 3. Colorblind claims signal that you lack the leadership skills & vocabulary to have key conversations. Ask questions here, in this safe space.
