If people are getting fired from companies only.because they are on bench for more than 3 months, is it wise approach to switch with higher salary now?

Making 105k base in DC, what is a fair salary to ask for from an NYC mid-sized startup that would take into account the HCOL, risk of a new job, and the new responsibilities?

1099 or w-2 ? I have been given the option though the company prefers w-2. It’s a day rate booking couple of months or more (no end date). I already have 1099 from similar company this year and am leaning towards 1099, but I don’t want to be difficult. I do take home office deduction and they are not supplying any equipment. Had a salary discussion with headhunter, who really lowballed me and told that the employer is not going to pay more than X.
The final interview is scheduled for tomorrow should I be expecting any salary negotiation during the final interview or after or is the number that I informally agreed to with a headhunter is set in stone?
