Well there’s no sense in looking now, spend some time in the role and learn the responsibilities. I’m sure you’ve been trained and groomed for it in order to get the promotion, but it simply isn’t the same until you live it day in and day out. Your exit opportunities will be much better by doing this.
This is the advice I was hoping for. My only concern is…to what end. I was always told make it to senior…then make it to manager. At what point can I confidently say enough.
What’s your long term goal? Tax director in industry or pivot to something else?
It’ll be easier if you know your long term goal so you am an orient your next jump in the proper direction.
If you don’t and you’re just trying to get out of public, then you’re gonna have to take a risk that makes sense at that point in time and if it doesnt work out, you’ll probably have to make another jump to get to the point that you went to.
