Times like this exacerbate inequality. A humbling reminder to appreciate what we have and to be kinder to those who don’t.
Then do something about it?
Commit your time to:
1) mentoring at big brother/big sister
2) donating your money to a school’s lunch program for low income students
3) research the after school programs available in your district and volunteer
4) donate to planned parenthood so high school kids get sex education and birth control to prevent youth pregnancies
5) donate to your local women’s shelter or food pantry

I’m the first college graduate in my immediate family. Both my parents are in hospitality and the hotel my dad works at is temp closing. He just turned 65 and is having to use vacation time just to make sure he gets a check so he can pay the bills. Neither of my parents have any retirement and have always lived check to check.
I’m in my 30s and not investing at the moment since I have 19K in debt. However, I do have an emergency fund. My EF, on top of being fortunate enough to still have work, makes me feel like I have 500K sitting in investments when compared to my dad’s situation.
As many have said, when you’re in a position of wealth you should certainly have a giving heart. It’s the cure to selfishness and helps you be thankful with what you have. As in my case, sometimes those in need are those closest to you.
That’s the thing, we are just realizing we are living in a current modern dystopia
Thanks for posting this. I’m a divorced parent who’s between jobs right now, and trying to learn more about personal finances. Not everyone in this bowl are capable of investing at this time but are maybe just worried about their 401k. I personally think those who have a ton to invest and are capitalizing on this crisis are no better than Burr and company unless you do something to offset your gains- for example, using some of that $$$ to help others. This is just making the rich/poor divide glaringly more obvious. And it’s been pointed out in other threads that “consultants” seem to have less empathy than the rest of us marketing folks. This bowl is mostly consultants... you tell me. 🤷🏼
Donate some money to those in need. Helps with the guilt
Not to sound alarmist, but don’t count your chickens...this is only the beginning of this particular ride...
