Now i want to move out by learning something new & changing my domain. But the thing is I am not able to study because I am stuck in a comfort zone and learning new thing gives me bad anxiety. It feels like I will never learn & be forever stuck here. Pls help on how to come out of comfort zone, learn things and apply for the job. Tata Consultancy Infosys Wipro

“Account girl.”
In some smaller shops, Account/Community Management takes a stab at the copy before sending along to the Copywriter to flesh out the ideas and concepts. The fact that she’s just saying to check for typos is naive, but she could be thinking that she’s helping you out, especially if it’s a junior role. Communicate clearly the roles and responsibilities, or ask her boss to... she might not realize what she’s doing. Doesn’t excuse the behavior, but try to look at it from her perspective.
@OP Um, okay... just saying that they might now know that it’s not their role to take a first stab at copy. Talk to them instead of being passive aggressive.
Hey, friend, I’ve never been called a “CE”.
Does “account girl” have regular interface with the client? Maybe she received negative feedback on previous copy written by the CW team and she is just trying to get it right this time around and avoid any hurt feelings. Bottom line - it is highly unlikely that she is intentionally trying to undermine you and break her own back by taking on too much (her job AND yours). Sounds like an open conversation would benefit you both. At the very least, it can’t hurt.
@OP you sound like a real gem. Can’t imagine why an account girl will try to bypass working with you.
Call me an “account girl” and I’d be writing more than your copy!
“Account girl” really? We don’t want to write your copy, because as you’ve stated that’s YOUR JOB. There are a few reasons that we might, 1. To be helpful if your plate is swamped, 2. If the previous copy was not well received and trying to create a buffer. Agree that she shouldn’t have just asked you to look for typos, but seriously? If you have an issue address it with her there in real time. She probably doesn’t even know it’s a thing.
CE?
@BBDO, Copy Editor
@Account 1, I don’t try to do the account people’s jobs and they need to back up out of mine.
I second having a chat and asking questions about why she's made the error before escalating. It's what I imagine the copy editor will do
What’s a CE?
