Build new agency for sure. Small team, everyone wfh, no overhead. Holding company quality work at 1/10th the price. You can absolutely kill it right now. And it’s only going to get better the worse the economy gets.

I’ve got to agree with this. I would love to start an agency but I just need more experience and connections. Sounds like you’ve got that going for you. I say go for it

Coach some folx! So many young people who could learn from someone with a wealth of agency experience. Get in front of low income kids so they don’t have to decide between sports or coding. In my experience, this leads to the best kind of consulting and advisory work too.

Look at Amazon, FB, and google - tech companies are so out of touch with agencies. Bridge that gap

That sucks. You got where you were because you were talented, intelligent and persuasive. That’s deep in your bones. So whatever you do , you’ll do it well. I’m rooting for you. We all are. Close your eyes. Take a deep fuqing breath. What’s in front of you? Run to that! However crazy it is. Do that. You’re at the bottom of the valley now. It’s low. It’s dark. It blows. But now you get to chose which mountain you want to climb next. They’ll all be hard to climb but those views are what you see in your head. That’s worth the climb. Go get you some of those damn views!!

Go in house to get closer to the business, to have more skin in the game, to feel fulfilled by building the business instead of building ego driven ideas that we’re not completely confident will transform the brand.

Go to design or research firms. Advertising is going to be ugly for awhile

Pharma is ok, just having a little fun...

I mean... context? How much savings do you have? What market are you in? What are your passions

Would appreciate some guidance..I was given a second project unrelated to my current work. The LOE is growing and a lot more than I had anticipated where I cannot focus on my main project. I’ve been working 10-12 hrs with no break in between and really burnt out to a point I just want to quit w/no other jobs lined up. Should I bring it to my manager? If so how should I approach this…? I don want to come off as a complainer or someone incompetent….

My firm recently merged with another firm, and it is starting to feel distinctly more “corporate.” All of their decisions are metric-driven now—billables, realization rates, client and matter origination, business development hours. I’m missing the community feeling of the old firm, when I was more than just a number. Any advice on how to adapt? Is this just COVID burnout?

I feel like the Senior manager has to redo all (or a lot) of my work. I’ll suggest something, they’ll modify or reject it and then make a decision. Then I’ll execute on that decision and I didn’t have the best idea and it’ll be tweaked again or something comes up and the approach didn’t actually work based on th support. I’m an A2 up for promotion so I should be performing like a new senior, but I feel like it’s clear that I’m not close. For more context, it’s a first year audit so maybe that...
