Lately I’ve come home and been too exhausted to do any housework. My laundry is piling up. I need to grab groceries and make food but I’m surrounded by food all day so don’t feel like cooking. How can I mentally get out of this rut!?

I struggle with this as well. I found lighting the load by ordering prep made food or things that can just be microwaved relieves a lot of the pressure.

Yeah I do frozen foods - but gets boring after a while. 😬 batch processing definitely helps!

I started batch-doing things on my days off: laundry, groceries, meal prep, so I wouldn’t have to think about it after a draining shift. I also use Walmart Plus (app) to get my groceries, and I do my list on my way to work during my commute.

Usually it’s great, and most of the time the fresh produce is fine. But there are two things I don’t like: first, sometimes they say they couldn’t find what I wanted, so I don’t get the product; and second, they don’t always pick produce the way I would. Still, with three little kids, those downsides aren’t too bad compared to the time and stress I save.

Do you still love the job? I just left Food & Beverage Director job and have been in the industry 34 years with 30 years experience as a manager. Do you still love it? If you don't then think about other options. Maybe try and do meal planning for the week so you don't have that stress

Wow you have so much expertise and left a great position! What made you finally make the leap? I still love the job but sometimes I feel overwhelmed for sure… meal prep is a good idea!

Generally curious how many companies offer phone reimbursement? My last gig did not but the current one does. Legally it seems, all employers are required to do so if we use our phone in literally any capacity (video call, slack, teams, emails etc). How prevalent is the issue of not reimbursing phone dues?

I work as an AGM in a busy restaurant. Been working there for just over a year, and haven't had a single raise. I now only make 0.50 cents more than even the lowest paid shift lead but I am doing a lot more work. I'm no longer satisfied with these conditions. Should I try to negotiate a raise or look for other opportunities?

If I should negotiate, any tips?

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?

Check the overtime laws for your state!!

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.
