Hey, I have 4 YOE and currently a manager at PwC and have been managing teams for a little over a year now. My role mainly consists of leading teams of engineers deliver MVPs to our clients.
If I wanted to exit to Google or Facebook (Meta) what role would align for me? I was looking at engineering manager roles but unsure if that’s too senior for me.
Any book recommendations on change management?

You should go off what you want to do - not others. I would do some research on possible exit routes before leaving just so you have a game plan.
IMO your accounting career gets much better and you have many more options the longer you stick with it

Generally speaking, audit experience (not expertise) is very different from experiences in other service lines. If you truly enjoyed learning about financial accounting concepts and application, I would try to get into Accounting Advisory/CMAAS/ARA/etc. If not, then look into FDD or other speciality groups and start networking.
Yep same story here

Left Big D after 1 year in audit, new job is mostly FDD but they also let me run with some ideas on making our group more efficient through analytics (my passion) so I would say run for the hills and go to something you’re interested in! Side note: I got my current role through a recruiter that reached out on LinkedIn. Most of them actually have great roles
I left audit after 18 months and I’m working as an account manager for entertainers…I honestly work harder than I did in audit but it’s not difficult and it’s interesting. Happy medium for someone like me that doesn’t want to do accounting anymore.
My recruiter brought it to me since he knew I wasn’t in love with your typical accounting roles. You’re essentially handling the day-to-day finances of celebrities—bills, credit card payments, payroll, one-off expenses. It’s fast-paced and high volume but again, not difficult. Still looking at financials and doing JEs, but through a different lens. The accountants handle the tax side, we handle more day-to-day.
Same. I don’t like doing accounting and I’m trying to learn analytics. I have a background in comp science but I don’t know where to start
I felt similar. I left to do FDD a few years ago. Much happier
