Cg has offered to match upto 23.5 lakhs.. Is it worth moving to TCS on this grade? My primary reason for moving out of Cg is i m bored of beauocracy and WLB at current project. Hi Folks,
Hope you are doing well, I need valuable suggestion on few of my queries.
I had joined KPMG(KGS) on April 2022, during the interview i have been told that i would be working on Java Backend Development as my background belongs to same technology and my interview was also happened on Java/Spring/Microservices; but they put me on Low-Code / No code Platform and its totally tool based work. I am frustrated with the current work as i didnt find anything productive to learn.Continued in com KPMG @

Does anyone have any insights on what a typical Sr. Associate Director makes at Boehringer Ingelheim? I have a range of 170-180k which I think is fair but don’t want to be underpaid. Also, any information regarding retirement planning or medical/dental benefits would be helpful. Haven’t gotten much out of HR. Thanks in advance!
Happy Founders Day!

First, take a deep breath. You took a chance on a small firm with upside potential and it is not working out the way you wanted.
You are in this situation bc you took a chance. No one ever advanced their career wo taking some risk. Sometimes it doesn't work out. It is ok.
You are realizing it now and are ready to do something about it. That is great.
Good news is that you recently left EY, a globally recognized leader in professional services. Assuming you left EY on good terms, reach back out. If you do not want EY, the other Big 4 firms will have you. They are desperate for talent rn.

OP - don't let ego get in the way of your career progression amd reaching back out to EY.
You tried something out, it did not work amd you realized how awesome your time at EY was, tell them that and you miss the people most, amd that you found the work meaningful. Also add that you talked to othe Big 4 and EY is where you want to be.
Trust me, they will know that you want to be there and that counts for a lot.

I’m not in my 30s but I made the same switch a few years ago to a smaller firm.
There’s a reason those firms are small, they’re a pain.
It’s ok, we all make these kinds of mistakes. Luckily this is easy to recover from.
I like the small form I worked at for about 5 years. I left to go to a 50,000+ company. I regret leaving (most days). It’s nice to be able to put expenses on your personal card, not have an “IT department” that is constantly trying to lock everything down. Nice to be able influence policy and decisions.
elaborating for folks - Decided to join a small CPA firm which was branching into Digital Finance (basically Analytics and such). The projects are coming in but it seems that there is absolutely no support or WLB. I explicitly told the team that I do not have Finance background and they came told me that will be ok, and here I just spent the entire weekend (full 48hours, with 2 hours of sleep) trying to tie out numbers. The project fails, it is on me, as I messed up. I am spiraling so hard that I dont know what to do.
Please pushback and say No.
Also 33 and also hate my life. You're not alone. I hope it gets better. Take some time to think about the life you want and what steps you can immediately take to get there. Even this post is a great start. I know I don't want to work until I'm 65. I'm ampd up my frugality and investing to hopefully speed up my retirement process.

FIRE? I am also FIRE, but want to work until I am 80.
Maybe elaborate some more? Why do you hate it? What’s missing that is making you unhappy?

Does EY gave u ability to join back after u left or other big 4 firms?
Ey will probably take you back lol
Sure, DM me.

It’s also important to realise careers are not a linear process…

Assuming you didn't burn bridges. I would recommend reaching out to the former manager and ask advice.

All the B4 are desperately hiring and you could probably easily get in to any of them. Consider boomerang back to EY for a nice bump.
Know this. This can/will happen no matter what stage of life or your professional level is. Stay strong all these noises will pass!
What level are you at?
Possible that I was not ready, but honestly I have no team! I literally am working as the associate and everything else. At some point if one person is doing the job for 4 just to keep the project afloat, with no support, it will turn sour. My mistake, but my principles ( which I know a lot of you will say screw that) does not allow me to give crappy product to a client just because we have resource crunch
From above -- Nope, no team. So basically running myself ragged. At the same time, I am handling 5 projects. So each day of the week is a client meeting...

I left to a boutique and quit in a month. I thankfully had two other slow-moving processes at larger firms going on, and got better offers from both.
Shi* wlb in boutique?

You are not the first to do this. Years ago I refused a Fortune 50 corporation job to join a small consulting. They paid on time but everything else was average. The owner was a good person, but the recruiter was a big lier. The recruiter got laid off after a year due to some fraud. It took me years to recover.
Any dic/k can open a consulting or software development company, all they need is few hundred dollars and a website. Next time be careful with selecting. For now, just eat it up and apply for another job. I warn you: it may take few weeks or months to get your next job, but don’t give up. Stay with the same small company, until you find another job.
Had a similar experience, not to scare you, but left me with permanent damage. Worked with dregs of society. Firstoff be grateful you found out within 3 months. Second, you’re in tech, so you’ll get hired soon, no matter what. Third, if it’s that unbearable, quit and train. You have a big brand behind you.
Also A2, aka “JC”, I wouldn’t believe what they tell you! You have no clue what really happened.
Happy to help if you want to join EY back. I can refer you back-DM me and we can go from there
Never leave for smaller, unless it’s a start up.
Work? We chillin’
Apply to Slalom. We are going across the board
Wishing you well - please push back and protect your mental well-being and health. You can only do so much. Focus on finding the next career - look for potential connections on LinkedIn and start to work on building your network again so you can find some referrals. Good luck!
Is it Consulting you don’t like or the small firm? If it’s the small firm you don’t like, that’s an easy one. Admit you mistake and either go back to EY or interview with the others.
If it’s Consulting you don’t like, then you have some soul searching to do.
