Grew my book from $200k to $1mm+ in 18 months by a combination of reaching out to people on LinkedIn (targeted for those in my niche industry) and attending conferences.

An overall tip would be to approach the process as seeking to get information about what others do and figuring out how you can help them (e.g. who can you connect them with that could help or how you can be a resource for them or their clients).

After attending a conference, follow up on LiknkedIn to set up a video call in the followingc couple weeks to learn more about what they’re doing (notice I didn’t say to tell them about yourself which may may happen naturally anyway). That cements a relationship outside the conference. Follow up every few months to check in.

Finally, be genuine, keep an open mind and be patient as you never know who may refer a client to you in the future.

A1 Can you please elaborate on the kind of cold outreach for LinkedIn contacts. I’m not comfortable and I’ve not had much luck reaching out to prospectives/targets on LinkedIn. I don’t get a response.

If you can please elaborate on that, that would be helpful.

like

A1 that’s really helpful. Would you be comfortable sharing what sorts of service providers and sample text of the kind of message you would send?

Hello everyone! How do you manage holiday pay when the holiday is on a Saturday/ Sunday. For example, if I have someone working on Christmas (Sunday), they should be paid 1.5 but what if they work on Monday as well?I know this might sound silly to some people but I’m covering for payroll for the holidays and I don’t want to mess up!

Does anyone have suggestions for what a salary should be for a Digital Marketing Analyst | Paid Social & Performance Media? I have 1 year of experience, the job asks for 0-1 year of experience. I feel I over meet the qualifications in some areas and just meet them in others. The recruiter said 50k is the salary the company is offer. I know I can negotiate. What are your thoughts on what the salary should be?

Junior associate here, should I ask for more money if my firm is about 10-15 percent less hours but about 30 percent less pay? The gap will never be closed to the top pay scale at my firm but when I decided to come to this firm the pay difference was about 15 percent and not 30. Would appreciate any thoughts on how to go about bringing this up without pissing people off because I love the firm and do not want to leave

Do any real estate lawyers out there know of/can direct me to a ROFO agreement to purchase commercial property? I’m working on one now (but using a ROFO to purchase equity interests as a basis) and would like to see what other people are doing. Curious as to how many deals at once is typical for a first year associate to take on (M&A, mostly private equity clients). Deal size is lower middle market and I’ve worked on deals ranging from $1-$110M. 2 deals at once is plenty for me, but it seems like my peers are able to take on more than that at once and still do fine. Maybe I’m just a slow learner/out of my league at the big law firm I’m at.
