Safe to say folks don’t join big 4 for the 401k match

like

You just listed two non-big 4 firms in your response. We’re saying the same thing. Cheers 🍻

Match is not great. It doubles after 5 years but that’s a long time missing out on contributions. The pension is pension is pretty generous however, and it can be rolled over into a IRA in the event that you leave the firm. Pension match starts at 2.5% of salary and increase with age and tenure

like

They contribute roughly 2.5% of your salary yearly into the account and guarantees the balance grow at 4% a year

This might be a dumb question but when folks say max out 401k contributions, do they mean the full 19.5k per year? I usually do the 5% to get my company match.

New to investing, but want to make sure I'm doing this correctly. I've maxed out my 401K and am looking to open an IRA. I know everyone recommends backdooring this into a Roth IRA, but if my plan is to move/retire to a state with no state income tax, wouldn't traditional make more sense? Or am I overthinking this? Also, if I go the backdoor route, how do I make sure I don't get taxed again, when i convert to a Roth? Thanks in advance!

HR professionals- are you requiring a negative test before any employees return to work after COVID? Some had very mild symptoms and one was asymptomatic. I’ve read not to push for a Dr.’s note and some people can still be positive yet not contagious. Right now I’m following the cdc guidelines of 10 days from first symptom, fever free for 24 hrs and improvement of symptoms.

I’m 30 years old and have been running my own (small) agency over the past two years, working with local businesses. I’ve got a solid book of client and spec work, with creative ad copy. I’ve also written for Sports Illustrated, so I can write anything from articles to ad copy. Before that, I worked in communications at a few law firms. Now I’m looking to work at an ad agency as a copywriter. Honest question: is it a reach to pursue that? And, if it isn’t a reach, do I apply for entry-level?
