Got an interview request from Amazon for Sr. Digital Marketing Manager. I have been interviewed by and worked for multiple big names like Mcafee, Meta, Microsoft but never by Amazon. I’m wondering how’s their hiring process, what kind of questions and tasks are waiting for me, how many steps are there etc.
Thank you in advance, everyone!

My life’s philosophy has been that I will never let GC aspirations come in the way of life or career decisions. For context, Indian with 150 year wait on EB2, have been on H1-B since 2011. I will happily go back to India and live a luxurious life with the capital I’ve collected here and live in familiar environment. Of course, as long as I m allowed to stay here, I’ll be here. If you maintain such an outlook, I suggest stay in big tech.
This. Collect as much money as you can and get to a level where you can leave on your own terms if it ever comes to it. US citizen here with lots of family wealth back in India and I’d be happy to go back once I hit financial goals here.
Gonna be honest here. These comments are quite off the mark and betray a deep lack of knowledge of the nuances of the Green Card process.
No, the Green Card process won’t figure itself out in the future. Wait times are lengthening even for non-Indian nationals. Yes, you can capitalize on a few tens of thousands of dollars by taking the big tech role now but if you get your Green Card sorted sooner by taking the bank role, you can still join big tech later and turn what would’ve been a brief 5 year stint in the US into a long 25 year stint.
Your priority at the moment must be to lock in the priority date regardless of whether you intend to see through the entire Green Card process at this bank. You don’t have forever to do this since you mentioned your H1B has 3 years to go. Once the date is locked in, you can join Big tech later and retain the date. The earlier your priority date is, the better it is for you. The days of priority dates staying current for RoW applicants are likely over. All of this is of course predicated on the fact that you’re not an Indian born national. If you are, none of this matters.
Also something to consider is that even if faang resumes perm a lot of labor market tests are failing with the many layoffs everywhere
Go Big Tech.
Bank strategy roles can be easy layoffs (shouldn’t be a concern now though with their recent great earnings) and not as high pay longer term vs big tech or consulting.
GC will figure itself out as long as you have H1B and a filed I140
Well the issue is no clear path at big tech of having a filed I140 anywhere soon
You’re a BA right? Have you gotten your offer to return yet? If yes, then you have nothing to lose. As long as you perform, the firm will support your movement and secure your status if you go back.
I am European
Take the GC and run with it. If you are non-Indian, non-Chinese, you can get the GC in as little as two years.
I had a startup sponsor my GC in 2010. I called my Dad. He said take the offer RIGHT NOW. I have so many choices and freedoms now because of that decision. I received my GC in 2014.
I only worked for the startup for two years, and then joined PwC, which really helped my brand. I could also have gone to bschool.
The GC helps with everything: freedom around jobs, getting loans or a mortgage, and freedom to travel and even work abroad if you want.
Just providing some perspective.
M1 I think green card holders are taxed globally too. It’s not just citizens
Coach
Why don’t you stay with MBB and pursue GC?
Large banks could layoff and perm would pause as well. Big Tech pauses are usually only for 6 months
Yes, looking into taxes now. Considering Dubai.
PwC1, even when you pay taxes from Dubai, you still fund Israel, and Ukraine.. and pretty soon green land and panama canal acquisitions
