When I started at a big advertising agency 12 years ago, every young single person was dating someone from the agency. Some of them grew into serious relationships and one of them got married. Today, people are scared to hold eye contact with someone of the opposite gender on the chance it makes uncomfortable. Agency hours and life are challenging to mental health as it is. I think it’s wrong to forbid romantic relationships at work. What does everybody else think?

How does everyone handle PD about LGBTQ+ inclusion, terms, pronouns, language, etc.? We had a session last week and the presenter became political (digs against a certain party, specifically naming our governor) and stated factually incorrect information regarding transgender women in sports. I chose to bite my tongue for fear of being labeled a bigot, trans/homophobic, etc. What would you do?

Latinx - help! We used this term in our diversity spotlight discussing Hispanic Heritage Month. One individual said that in English a group of Latinos would just be Latins to be gender neutral. I understand the word is controversial but is “Latins” grammatically correct? I assume we should just say Latin Americans, but trying to understand if Latins is also accurate.

Is “scouted” a legit recruiting firm?

I was recently offered a Zoom interview. The school had 10 interview slots for me to choose from. Three were one day this week and the rest are next week. I chose the first time slot available. Should I have waited until one of the last slots so I was fresher on their mind when choosing a candidate? I am just sitting here stressing out until I here something. Also, do interviewers still appreciate a hand written thank you for the interview?

Is it true that you can't ask for a promotion, you have to earn it first?

I’m a creative in Europe. My creative output has been consistent and I have been lucky enough to have won a bunch of awards at the big shows. All is well. But somehow I keep on feeling the urge to relocate to the USA to work on a bigger scale, and to feel the thrill of a new challenge. I have some opportunities over there, actually. Are there any Europeans working in the USA right now? In which way is it different? Do you make less stuff? Which cities are recommended? Any advice would be great.
