Looking for perspective here! I’m worried that my ex is going to refuse to pay child support and take me to court over it. And I’m worried that somehow support won’t be given. In your collective experiences, do judges award child support in 50/50 custody cases if the husband makes more a good deal more income? My ex makes 60% of hhi and I make 40%, but live in a HCOL area so really need support to help pay rent. My lawyer says I can’t make the rent case because I can move somewhere cheaper.

I have 50% custody of 2 little kids and my ex earns about 2x more than me, we leave in HCOL area (California, SF Bay area) and I get about $2500/month child support. I work full time, child care costs are split 50/50, and in practice almost all of my child support goes right to the child care provider.

But I thought I’d taken to court, judges want to ensure the kids have the same quality of life...

It varies from state to state. In FL my attorney did a child support calculation using respective salaries to figure out child support that my ex pays. Is child support not mandatory in your state?

Certainly a question to ask your attorney. In FL you do a child support calculation for 50/50 as well, that is how my attorney did it, the judge did not have to be involved with that as software calculates it all. Are you at a stage where you are unable to agree on issues & have to ask a judge? Thankfully my divorce didn’t get that far & we were able to settle without a judge.

I have a friend who told me he sought treatment for alcohol abuse 6 mo ago. We talk a lot and I try not to judge or ask too many questions about his progress, just wanting to be a supportive friend who doesn’t pressure him. Today I brought him to a very laid back picnic… there was drinking but plenty of non-alcoholic alternatives, and it was a very chill group. Toward the end of the day I noticed him drink something. Should I have confronted and stopped him? Should I bring it up now? Guilty now

I am seeing a guy and having a hard time thinking about him in terms of long term relationship. One thing that bothers me is that he never showers after he comes back from the gym and I told him that I find it nasty. We currently live separately so I don't have to see him after he works out which is a good thing but I can easily see this being a problem in the future. Any tips? And NO I don't want to go to therapy lol

What would you do if you didn’t need money? I have a fair amount coming one day and don’t actually need to work to live a good life (middle / upper-middle class). I work because of this vague notion of “ambition” and because everyone I grew up around is highly competitive and hard driving. I just feel unhappy so often and am wondering what this is all leading to. Scared I’m wasting my life being unhappy / in turmoil cause it’s what my culture wants me to do.

I’m (early30s) about 8 months into a relationship with a 40m. Things are wonderful in every aspect, but he is absolutely atrocious with his finances. I felt it becoming an issue about two months ago. He forgets about auto payments and just generally doesn’t care. I sat down with him and looked at everything and even after talking it out he still continues to stress and it’s now causing me stress. I had a final discussion with him today about it and he went on abt how love isn’t enough for me…

I’m feeling so conflicted, knowing they’re better off with me but still wanting them to have “enough” time with him. Does anyone have a good time split they can share? Thanks.
