You go to therapy.
That’s a great idea ! I am just a bit embarrassed to tell people I don’t know how he really treated me :/
He “only hit you a few times”? Oh that’s good, I was worried he was a bad guy or something....
OP please, please, for the love of God read that sentence and tell me where it’s ever OK to have a physically abusive partner. Never. Ever. You said right there you know he’s an awful person and he is, he’s a piece of shit. That’s been proven. The end.
Go get some new bow chica bow wow if you know what I mean lol but seriously hitting is very serious and should never be tolerated so date someone else. Or find a super time consuming hobby
Go listen to podcast about abusive relationships, narcissistic abuse, toxic relationships ect. Mine was not physically abusive, but my emotional and psychological wounds have been affecting my physical health. Stay strong! I know it’s hard to walk away but think about your future.
Walking away was the hardest thing I ever did honestly but I do know long term it’s better for me and I deserve someone a lot better
OP - went through the same exact thing. No one understands unless you’ve been through it. The only thing that will heal this is time, but in the meantime the thing that helped me most was distracting myself and staying busy.
I guess in my head I still want to believe he’s a good person with a bad temper but I know this isn’t the case. The hardest part is that when we were good, we were perfect. And that’s what kills
Once you realize there were never any perfect times, you will be on the road to healing. People who are capable of physical abuse start abusing long before the first hit. He was grooming you to stay during the “perfect” times.
