Looking for some career advice: fairly happy with my current situation at KPMG but the workload has been unusually high recently and likely will be for a while. Decent salary just not where I think I should/could be and raises/promotions are typically only once a year. My team is great and I actually enjoy the work, but I’ve been contemplating whether I should apply to MBB or other top consulting firms for the chance at a much higher salary. Any advice or experience to share?

Currently work in a very unique Wealth Management ops role.

Getting paid 85k base with 40k in bonus plus about 35k~ in OT.

Money isn’t everything but in my late 20s it feels like the only thing important right now.

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. For those who left NYC, what city/state did you go to and why?

Do consultants get fired from a client for moving furniture around? (like a stand alone monitor) from an unused room he was given to sit, supposedly reserved for auditors. Asking for a friend 🙃

So I’m in industry from big 4, and a colleague with same yoe comes from MBB. High paying tech firm. I think I work harder and produce quality content at speed, but they can hold executive conversations that tend to impress senior stakeholders.

Big 4 produces work horses and MBB produces leaders. Also they could be a work horse too since I don’t have full visibility.

Anyone have similar experiences or do I just suck at executive stakeholder management?
