seeing a lot of posts on consultants wanting to go into the military on here lately. If you’re in the info gathering stage at this point I wouldn’t say anything

Are you hoping to commission so that you can pivot to strategy consulting down the road? Because there are easier and more effective ways to do that.
If your goal is simply service, that’s commendable. It’s a hell of an experience and you’ll meet some of the best (and worst) people you’ll ever know. I would neither recommend nor discourage it, beyond saying that unless we get into another war soon, your days will be spent in garrison leading training, building slides, and using Excel trackers. The officer life isn’t that different from consulting except you do more physical training and your boss has legal authority over you.

Absolutely goalpost shifting. It’s embedded in your argument. But let’s get there one step at a time.
There absolutely exist biological differences, on average, across genders. Men are, on average, larger and stronger than women.
So what?
If you want to serve because of some higher calling, I guess there’s a place for it. There’s no chance I’d commission again. The military paid for all of my schooling and I’m grateful, but most of the work isn’t directly translatable into corporate life. A top tier MBA is generally going to be more useful in pivoting career wise than any military service…
Don’t let them know until the papers are signed. No benefit to you letting them know while things are still being sorted
There's a lot that can DQ you from OCS prior to shipping out. I wouldn't say anything until I had a contract in writing.
P1, I did basic and OCS in '07, yes. Not 100% about now.

My bad back and knees say to u. Bro don’t do it.
Haha damn 🥲 I already feel old for my age
I would have an honest conversation with people who are already in and ask them how they feel about being in the military. Most of the people I know wouldn’t recommend it. But your mileage will vary.
Military won’t translate to strategy consulting as easy as you think.
Dude, you're going backwards! Us veterans get out of the military trying to land in consulting.
Keep in mind though, depending how long it takes you to get through all your training O3 is about 5 years away. You will take a pay cut immediately and the opportunity cost down the road is huge.
I also have to attend MEPs next week. Should I let my employer know or lie about being sick or something so I can attend without them knowing?
I wouldn't let them know at this point.
I don't think I would either.
Are you going active or national guard/reserves?
