Lots of people think that utilization / changeability is a bullshit metric. What other metric do you propose to replace it?

Is all the work getting done in a timely fashion and is the client happy? If the answer to both of those is yes, no complaints from me.

like

Agreed. Understandably, harder to quantify and compare, but this is really what we’re here to do. Snapshots are where my real concern is - far too subjective. Those with the opportunity can just play the game and send reviews to certain people who take it less seriously and consistently give higher reviews, while others are forced to send all their snapshots to the senior above them who is threatened by them and issues ratings based on time at the firm and not actual adherence to goals.

1) Hourly bill rates are stupid. We know the cost and negotiate upfront in an SoW with an agreed upon price.

2) Did you work 40ish hours? Good job. You are now reviewed based on how well you did and how much people like you. (Just like how it happens now).

Utilization has a place but it is a flawed statistic. Reviews from management should count more and client feedback

Do you pay your credit cards in full every month?

I ask because I’ve let my credit spending get a bit lax since moving and adopting a puppy recently, so I haven’t been paying them off in full every month like I used to (though still well above the minimum payment, and keeping utilization at 30% or under). It got me thinking about how many people adhere to this advice.

What were some challenges y’all faced this week?

I’ll start. Trying to get non local resources utilized. National Leadership thinks this is the answer to our problems but local leadership is hesitant.

How common are credit checks for roles in accounting or finance positions? Will high utilization on credit card balances and low credit score be a deal breaker? I’ve been irresponsible and made mistakes, but wondering if I can switch jobs now or if I’m best off waiting 1-2 years and cleaning up my credit first.

Also, is it wise to put in CV or say in interviews about your utilization if its good?

Hi! I’m doing some research on employee benefits (medical insurance, 401k, HSA/FSA, commuter benefits) and was hoping to connect with People specialists or HR professionals in the comp & benefits space. I’m trying to better understand any pain points or challenges you might face with utilization/enrollment. Anyone interested in connecting? Thank you!

When they say utilization doesn't count for the month of May/June what exactly does that entail? I'm assuming being on the bench for those months will still show on personal utilization reports...

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.
