Made my first big, client-facing mistake today. Almost made it a year without one, but alas. Embarrassed and nervous about fallout, especially in the time of layoffs. Say a little prayer for me.

Our principal who art in NYC, hallowed be thy LinkedIn network. Thy budget run, the deliverables come, in the office or the airport lounge. Give ACN this forgiveness, because they say it will never happen again and they definitely learned from it. Rock over London, rock on Chicago, amen.

Amen. 🙏

As long as you learned from it that’s all that matters, sounds like you didn’t violate CDP so just chalk it up as a learning experience and grow from it. We’ve all been there, some more so, some less so...but most people on here can relate.

Listen, I have done some absolutely stupid shit in my 30+ years. Just own it, apologize, we are all just trying to survive the crazy. Never hide anything or lie or blame others for something you did / it will all be fine.

the VP of HR at a firm i worked for accidentally emailed out an excel doc containing all employees’ names, addresses, phone numbers, and SSNs... to the entire firm. no big deal. just kidding, she was fired!

First off... happens to everyone. How big was the mistake?

Sent an email to some people I shouldn’t have. No huge secrets or anything but not a great look. Haha idk how much I can divulge without outing myself, but suffice it to say my boss let me know it was a mistake. Nothing catastrophic but I still feel dumb and embarrassed.

funny

I was pretty low on sleep, and called the VP of IT the wrong name multiple times during our first meeting. He let me know on a very crowded call. Now we’re buddies.

Decade ago in another life I let a fortune 100 company’s insurance expire. It was a non-mission critical part of their risk, and arguably stupid my company let me alone do it alone. Owned I was an idiot. Felt like shit. It was fixed. Got a big bonus that uear

At my old company, the new comp manager emailed the c-suite salary plans (base, LTI, bonus, perks) for the year to a low level employee who had the same name as the CHRO. 😂. It was her first week. She didn’t get fired.

Honest question. How is A&M’s transaction/capital markets advisory business model competitive from a client perspective? For example, if I was a CFO considering an IPO, the main reason for going to a non-Big 4 for the IPO readiness work would be to save on fees. If word got out that the rates I was quoted were to fund the team’s 6 figure bonuses, you better believe I’d put more pricing pressure on the firm to slash their rates. Asking because I’m genuinely considering applying to A&M.

In the process of being promoted @B4 but I don’t like the people I work for and I’m on the project from hell. The promo has taken so long that I’ve looked elsewhere despite it being my 2nd promo in 3 years. I haven’t had much traction until this past week where I was approached by 4 recruiters with really compelling roles (including FAANG). I know it doesn’t hurt to talk to them but am I an ass for excepting the promo while continuing to look/possibly exiting in the near future?

I recently moved teams due a better fit with my skills and a big org change at our company. I have been working for the company for 2+ years—longer than most at our org, and have contributed a ton to the company re: customer retention, conversion, etc. During this move and under a new manager is it a good time to ask about a promotion? I was debating waiting until after I am in the role for a few months, but no time like the present, right?
