I had an interview for an in-house position this week. The recruiter asked me how much I was making, I said $X on the spot. She almost gasped and the interview ended quickly. Is this common? I thought by now this would be semi-public information or you’d at least have a ballpark idea before reaching out to people.

I had an interview where the hiring manager stated she wants to develop her team so that they can go beyond xyz company. Huge red flag 🚩 or am I just overthinking?

I appreciate knowing a leader understands I probably won't work somewhere for 30 years, but the timing felt odd.

Trying to decide if it's worthwhile to take a job at Google in the bay area. I didn't research anything about levels before hand. I have 15+ years. Started off the phone screen as L5 (which went horrible), after which they said I can do the onsite as L4 (which went great). But again they said they will only now consider me as L3. First team interview went well.

Should I relocate for effectively the same base pay but more expensive city? Is it likely I'll get promoted to L5 eventually?

I had given L1 interview- on 9th Oct
L2- on 12th Oct
Hr called on 13th Oct. Asked for details like exp ctc, yoe and np. At the end he asked some time to come with final figure. It's been 2 days. No updates after that. Also, once I told my expected ctc 7LPA for 3.2 yoe. He didn't ask for negotiations too. How long is good to wait before asking the hr.

Thoughts on thank you emails after interviews? Had my interview this afternoon with 3 partners including the head of the corporate group! Should I send one? To the head of the group leading the interview or to all three of them? And should do it by tomorrow I guess? Sooner the better?

How do you stay humble? I’m a recent grad who landed an agency job. I’m working on big brands and we’re hiring celebs and it seems so in the clouds that I feel like I’m loosing myself. What gives?!

If all the top consulting firms made anonymous decks or gave anonymous pitches to a client, eg no branding and the client did not know which firm made which deck, do you actually think that the client would prefer MBB?  Is MBB actually coming up with better/more innovative solutions? I feel like I see many repeat or slightly altered solutions on almost all of my cases, are these really things that people at Deloitte/Accenture etc aren’t coming up with?

Working for a big 4 strategy firm in London and would like to move permanently (not secondment) to the US on an L1 visa next year after getting to senior associate.
