Disagree. If you want PM, stay in tech. It is very hard to break back in even from MBB - they look to existing PM role for a qualifier.
If you are bizops or strategy (and want to do that longer term) then do MBB and pivot later. Easy to break into that from consulting
Thank you Bain - will definitely take your advice!
MBB for a couple years then exit to industry
You’re aiming for consulting for the wrong reasons and have many false perceptions. Are you in undergrad?
Yeah I'm in undergrad, can you elaborate?

I think if you like the corporate role at Tesla/PM in general, there’s very little reason to switch to consulting

Many people try to exit from consulting to the role you’re in now, FYI.
Yes but I feel they tend to be in a different stage in their career
If you want PM, try to get a PM role. It is much preferred than MBB. If you are aiming for biz ops / strategy roles at tech, then MBB works as well
Slower growth ops? Dude our CFO is 34 and started as a bus ops analyst less than 10 years ago...
It can be very team dependent though - teams with much greater exposure to Elon tend to see the steepest growth trajectories. Also, if you look at the middle/upper-management, the external hires rarely seem to work out well. The “Tesla-grown” managers are much more successful at the company in general
Take whatever pays more. Your goals and intangibles can change fast especially right out of undergrad. I’ve never heard a 22/23 year old say they wanted less money.
Go into Consulting then exit to Tesla as a Director or executive
Tesla no brainer...the people who will tell u MBB are those who work at big 4 . The people who tell u to take Tesla work at mbb..
