This is gonna be our new normal, seems like. Sounds like you have back up care options, would highly recommend learning how they work and how they can help support you.
Yep. Sooooo many kids / teachers with covid in my area (Florida). Fortunately we haven’t been exposed according to the school but at least 3 of my son’s classmates have covid
Pro
D3, that is pure BS. It takes about 2 minutes to send a health message to the class, grade or school mail list. It's schools afraid of one of the dumbest governors in the country. SD, TX, FL all trying to outdo each other on pandering to the paranoid Q followers.
I’ve had to take some vacation because of this - mine is 10 months old and I’m a single father so we haven’t been getting much work done the last two weeks
Accenture offers like 400 hours of free back-up care during the pandemic. Get yourself a nanny.
Do the 80 free hour have to be with Bright Horizon? Can you find a nanny and get reimbursed?
A big reason why we're keeping our nanny on even though both kids will be in school all day.
But truly, this is gearing up to be a nightmare for parents and I fear the understanding from last year has been exhausted.
My 3 year old is home from an ear infection this week and I’m already exhausted 😴
Bunch of kids in my 3 yo’s class just tested positive, including my kid. And the ones without covid have strep so I’m sure we’re concocting some kind of omega variant over here.
We had 5 positive cases in one week. We had our 2 yo home after. He’s back now and it’s a mess.
My two just returned to kinder and grd 1 today from being in quarantine for 1 week. Struggled to keep them busy during the day and struggled to get back in groove to get them out this morning. Wears on you mentally. May be new norm.
My sister's one year old son had the unfortunate MIS-C and ended in a nicu for a week. That is scary stuff, he is well now but her as a teacher is not happy with the whole situation.
Comes from COVID exposure https://www.cdc.gov/mis/mis-c.html
This happened to me this week. It’s going horribly and of course I have to pay for the week.
Its brutal. And unpredictable. The entire work and child care model has been predicated on consistent schedule for 70 years.
To the question of how do you work when kids are home? The answer is you don't. Both are full time activities. Somethings gotta give- will likely be the work
My husband and I split the care and did half days for a week and half
Rising Star
This is us right now. My spouse and I tried to split the day and it did not work
Had to call in reinforcements (grandparents + our former nanny).
Just happened to me today. Help!!!!!
