My boss keeps giving me impossible tasks then getting upset when I don't manage to complete them. How do I explain that any engineer in my position would have the same difficulties?

Get them to understand the scope of the work and the tasks that is needed to complete it; as well as the challenges to those tasks so that they can provide support.

Do you track time while at work? If you do I'm sure you can prove to him that your work isn't as easy and quick as he may think it is, and that his expectations are unreal.

I say just be honest. Like, tell him it's too much because of this and that reason, if you're going to talk to him, you have to be assertive and show why you can't complete your tasks rather than complaining.

Classic! Bosses love handing out tasks to everyone and then get mad when people can't follow through due to the amount of work they have. I feel for you, friend.

I had a couple bosses in my last job that didn't understand that work takes time. They wanted everything immediately done and were upset when I did get it done. It was a toxic work environment and I ended up leaving that job just because of the toxicity my bosses had. I tried contacting HR multiple times about it and nothing happened so I left.

Can't relate. Always finish ahead of schedule. Work OT until you figure it out and how to have it take you less time. That's what I did. Now I have to ask for additional tasking because otherwise I will finish everything and be sitting around doing nothing 🤷‍♂️
Idk your experience but I felt like that my first year or two. Then I realized I didn't know as much as I thought I did and kicked it into high gear.

Since the 1st day, he is disruptive in class, refuses to work, and is disrespectful. He has a one-on-one para but she is in tears most days because of his behavior. Any thoughts around how to use M&A tax skills for the better good? I’m a CPA and originally got into this for a stable / interesting job, but in the long-term I’d like to do something that either influences drafting of tax legislation or helps the public (however naive that may sound). Perhaps I’ve gotten too introspective during the pandemic. Don’t really want to go back for a JD and aside from keeping a roof over my head I’m not very motivated by money. Anyone else have similar ideas?
