Agreed, if he's just your boyfriend its not your money and he can do whatever he wants with it. Sounds a bit whiny to me!
Will that affect your shared expenses? I definitely think if he's willing to be frugal and thinks he can handle it, he should go for it. But not if it's going to put more of a burden on you.
Understood with what everyone is saying here. My problem is that we live together and are very much partners, even though we are not legally married. So it will affect our shared life quite a bit. Sounds like consensus might be that I should just suck it up? Just worried I'm going to have come through on his rent etc at some point and I don't really have a lot of wiggle room myself.
PMM, if that happens he’s making the same error you did in the OP. They’re his loans to do with as he wishes but his half of the expenses do not become your problem due to his wishes.
