My daughter got a job offer this week, and accepted it. Good job, huge raise. Being her fathers daughter, she of course, asked about the company 401k. She will be eligible immediately. Its Vanguard.

Thoughts in continuing to rent in a small town just outside the city and staying remote vs moving to a bigger city and paying significantly more? Make 100k, paying 1k/mo in rent, maxing 401k, roth IRA, HSA, and extra in brokerage. No plans of buying a house (want to keep renting for flexibility as I invest the rest but obv can change down the line).

Worth it to slow down FIRE path for a bit for longer term career growth and accelerate it in a year or 2? Anyone else go through this thinking?

Our district is so lax on the students this year. With tech issues and distance learning days, we’ve gone from accommodating to enabling real quick. No penalties for late work, taking excuses for attendance, lower academic and behavioral standards... We were beginning to make so much progress on transforming our school culture, but this year is erasing that and then some. Is anyone else concerned about how to raise the expectations and students’ self-discipline back to pre-enabling levels?

Any nurses here transition completely out of healthcare and into tech and hit $150k with their first tech job? I have my associate in nursing with 10 years of hospital experience. Im trying to figure out if I should get a bachelors in computer science or just get a certificate in my preferred area of computer science. I want tech companies to take me seriously and want to crack $150k with my first job. My nursing job now pays 130k. What area of tech would even pay that much as a newbie?

Feeling underpaid for the work I’m producing and taking on. I recognize agencies notoriously under pay lower level employees, but I feel at this point I’m worth so much more. For context I have 2.5 years experience, in an AC role. To my knowledge we still aren’t passing out promotion and pay raises (ya know, COVID and all). Any advice? Do I start shopping around for a new spot?

My whole life I’ve had shorter-term education goals that kept me motivated. Graduate from university in 4 years, graduate from law school, make law review, etc. Now that I’m practicing, I can’t think of any short-term goals to keep me motivated. Obviously by shorter-term I mean a few years. I want to make partner someday, but that’s not for 7+ years (realistically. Please let me know if I’m wrong). Can you ladies tell me what your shorter-term goals are that keep you motivated?

For 5 years I basically had 10 frequent clients. Now those clients have brought me an average of two each, and now I have 30 constant clients and a bunch of clientele in my agency. It's true that serious, responsible, and consistent work pays off, let's say that I no longer worry about selling, practically, the houses that I show sell themselves.

I've heard good things about sales in the industrial sector. I'm also only looking for opportunities where I could continue to work remotely.
