My fellow road warrior 🐠, I have 110K Hilton points and want to open Hilton honors card ($95 annual fee) that will get me to 250K points (once I spend $2K in first 3 months). Already have 6-7 credit cards and no outstanding balances. Doing it to book hotel travel with family later this year. Is it worth it to pay $100/year? What will 250K get me? TIA

Just look up the dollar value of the points. There are plenty of sites that have this or you can simply go to the chain's site and check an equivalent dollar and point reservation and figure it out. See how it compares to the dollar cost of the card. If it's worth more and you don't mind the credit check hit, then go ahead.

General rule of thumb is .5 centa per point. That comes out to $1000. My credit score is above 800 so won’t mind taking a hit but it’s npv value of it vs paying $100 every year that bothers me.

Do you get a free night each year with the card? Marriott does a free night worth up to 35k points for their $95 fee card I believe

My partner and I are in the process of buying a PHEV that qualifies for the full non-refundable federal tax credit. We will both owe taxes in excess of the current $7,500 cap (will see if that increases with the new budget bill). If we both own the car (i.e. both names on the title), how do we manage filing for the tax credit when filing separately? Do we just pick one of us to file? Is there guidance on splitting the credit across owners? Does it matter what order our names are on the title?

I have a yearly income of 130k and will rent a 1Br/Studio in Manhattan from 2.4-3k by end of the year. I also have student loans of 28.5k which I intend to pay off in an year or so. Currently, putting in 4% for Roth per pay cycle and maximizing my HSA. I net a monthly income of close to 7k. I intend to save about 3k for the next 3 months in my Marcus Savings Acc and 1.5k from January (reducing it cos my rent doubles) How should I go about planning this and also have some emergency savings?

I made a mistake starting SIP in a ULIP. Used to invest 7500 per month starting from November 2018. I have discontinued my premium payments since last year. That is when my fund was moved to an interim surrender state and now it earns 4% per annum interest.

After 5 years of lock-in that is November 2023, can i withdraw the entire amount at a time? (Of course after paying surrender charges)

Hi all!
Would love some insight on how you went from an HR assistant/coordinator to an HR Generalist. I’ve been in the HR world for 8 years, and only in the last 2-3 have I really done real HR work. The first company I was at didn’t have a solid HR team so I don’t really count that. I feel like I’m ready to take on more responsibility and learn more. And of course make more money.

I have looked into getting SHRM certification. But should I go back to school and get my masters in Hr?
