Hi Everyone! I have been working in Salesforce for about a year now. But I am not enjoying my work as it's mainly on backend. I have been wanting to move to Web Dev. But someone suggested that like if I like frontend I should try LWC instead as I'm already into Salesforce. So I'm quite confused which way should I go. Can anyone help me with the same Tata ConsultancyAccentureDeloitteZS AssociatesInfosysSalesforceSalesforceAmazonMicrosoft

If nothing is keeping you in NYC, I’d take the opportunity. It’ll open more doors than if you got stuck in a career counsel position (unless you hate BD and would have job security as career counsel, which is personally my dream)
1. SF is a great city (it’s not like they’re asking you to go to Grand Rapids)
2. It’s a good career move from an option maximizing standpoint. Much easier to lateral to a great position with the partner title than counsel
3. Doesn’t sound like much is holding you to NYC
4. Change is always good. Keeps things fresh.
5. You will be seen as someone who plays ball and this may help your standing within your own firm on an EQ level.
I say it’s a no brainer.
😂 last time I visited GR it was the middle of December. Definitely made me never want to come back. No doubt there are worse cities in the US and even Michigan but my personal knowledge of intemperate weather locations is limited. My apologies to GR residents. I meant no offense. Just f****** cold af.

Do it! SF is awesome. Have a new adventure since you don’t have strong NY ties. Even if you don’t like it, partner title may help you lateral to another firm as a partner (or counsel, I see partner -> counsel moves sometimes, like stepping up in firm) or to a high level in-house role.

Sounds like a decent opportunity. Would you have to stay forever?

Try it for a year. If you hate it, come back to NY.
I mean I chose the Bay Area initially and am counsel here - I love the Bay Area but if my firm offered me partner to move to nyc or dc or something I’d probably take it. I’m also happy to stay here but the title is a pretty big deal for many reasons. Meanwhile the Bay Area has a lot to offer, apart from the occasional earthquake or smoky day. Also many in house opportunities if you want to bail.

Counsel is honestly not a bad gig, high pay without some of the bullshit of partnership. But as you note, it doesn’t really go anywhere from there. I would spend some time thinking about what you really want longterm. Consider talking to people who have gone into counsel roles about their experiences.
Tbh, as someone who thinks BD sounds horrible and wishes I could be a senior associate on biglaw pay for life, I’m starting to strongly consider angling for counsel myself. It’s possible that in a support group you wouldn’t have as much BD to deal with, though, so much as focusing on internal visibility.

Yes go! If you don’t have NY ties there’s no reason not to take the opportunity. And if you hate it out there it will be significantly easier to lateral back to NYC (or to somewhere else entirely) with “Partner” as your job title.
Partnership or “partnership”?
Only drawback is taking the California bar exam but still worth the move.
Take it and then lateral to a firm that has an office out east again.
Go for the partnership, build some clients and lateral to another firm as an equity partner.
What’s a support group?
Thank you!
