One of my best friends growing up just passed away. We lost contact with each other a year or two after graduating high school and I recently came to learn he was was battling cancer the past 5 years and ultimately succumbed to the illness. He hid it well from everyone and led a very private life during it all. To make matters worse, he had just turned 25. Seeing pictures of the condition he was in towards the end of his fight broke my heart. I wish I had known so I could’ve been there for him.

Just found out that my favorite aunt, who claimed I was her “favorite” niece, chose to leave all her valuables to her other two nieces who never visited or called her once in the last ten years. My aunt passed away suffering from cancer last year and didn’t have her own kids. I was there by her side throughout her battle. I still wish I had done more, made her life easier. I recommended a candidate for hire to a manager that reports directly to me. This person is a perfect match, but wanted the manager to obviously recommend. It has to be a fit. The manager just told me my recommendation is not her top pick. I feel frustrated because as much as we talk about the position, I wonder if we are mot aligned on criteria. What do I do? Do I push more for the person I want or will I cause an issue with the hiring manager? How do I get her to see this person’s value?

I just got a FAANG offer with 290k TC (8 YOE), so I am trying to rent out my place as I need to relocate, but I am not able to find someone to cover my full rent and I am depressed because I am so not investment savvy and I can NEVER EVER accept losing money in ANY SITUATION. Am I being insane?
